Elinor Ostrom (1933-2012) fait partie de ces très grandes dames qui consacrent l’essentiel de leur vie à une grande cause – les biens communs – . Son premier livre paru en 1990 ( Governing the Commons: The Evolution of Institutions for Collective Action) a été traduit en français en 2010 :
